Postcard – Nov’13

I love giving people presents, and if it is a loved one, it has to be handmade and lovingly put together.

So when my sugar crazed friend called, announcing that she was a mother to be :), I had to make her some delicious little nibbles, even before we got to the baby shower stage.

As she likes the flavour’s and textures of Indian sweets and is one to take presentation seriously, I decided on adding a spin to the humble halwa and coconut mithai – a ‘desi Bounty’ in the making :).

This remix of toasted coconut , cream and dry fruits stuffed inside un-sweetened halwa, dusted with semolina and shallow fried to golden perfection, turned out as foolproof as I had anticipated, and surprisingly lacked the grease and heaviness of regular ‘ghee’ soaked sweets :).
