Breakfast is incomplete in Cambodia, if not accompanied by a glass of soy milk.

Pictured here are unmarked bottles filled to the rim with fresh soy milk , which stand ready for sale in the midst of Phnom Penh’s central market. The beverage has a mild but distinctive flavour and could take some getting used to. Widely consumed for being more than just a thirst quencher, the nutrition and ‘cooling effect’ of this drink, make it an essential part of a hot day during the Cambodian summer.

Soy milk’s distinct flavour and local preparation are an essential part of the Cambodian culture and makes for an interesting culinary experience for any visitor.
