Fish’s that swam like ducks – Poem

The first signs were in the faces of who were heading back
Tired and empty
Empty dazes that gave away nothing

We took the route towards the sea
Loads of fresh water channels
And a beautiful, beautiful sunset

If there was magic
It was in the fish’s that swam like ducks
Holding up their breath
Swaying about in deep rich colours

Unnatural it was but magnificent
An evening that stretched forever
The sun holding on to it’s golden charm

Lost in the woods and glowing about
I knew we had changed
Changed to beauty but evil lurked within

I ran to trace my way back
Chased by my friend

Glistening sand peppers fall from my shoes
As I think of that day
When I lost my friend
Lost him to magic and empty daze
