Skating ice – Poem

Steel stilts for shoes
Slice some ice
A raging entry, in spectacular brown
My love, you break ground beneath my feet

I glide beside in wings of white
Hold me at two arm’s length
Let’s not break a leg, just yet

Figure eight and an edge
Tangled in a spin
Spin, spin, spin
Slit and nick, nick and cut
Specks of red and powdered white
– that danced, as we did

Doesn’t matter, a perfect ten
We haven’t fallen, look at me
Slit and nick, nick and cut
Specks of red and powdered white

Plenty of love for solo jumps
And glides in the air
Stock up on music, breathe the great outside

Ample white for a dance of two
Not a perfect ten on our first
But boy, did we break a leg
These beads of red
– it makes our dance better than the best

Rehearse for the next
Pick up the pace, stray a little farther
Shine in your space, waltz by once a while
We would be fools to let go
Would be crazy to not compete
Just because the nicks hurt a bit

You got to know
Our pair dancing is better than the best
