The end of year
Is time for milestones, beginnings, reflection
And holidays,
Time for cheer, friends, family for many
Also a time of stress, depression for some
For
Not having friends around
The ones working in empty offices
For
Not having family around
The ones who lost someone
The ones going through divorce, break-up, friction
For
Not enjoying forced socializing
The quiet, introverts types
During this time
You stand in contrast
People are with people.. you are not
People are celebrating.. you are not
People are going out.. you are not
Well..
It’s OKAY.
It’s okay to feel differently.
It’s okay to want to be on your own.
It’s okay if you don’t wish to celebrate it like other years.
Not every year… is same.
Not every person.. is same.
There is no, one way to celebrate.
So for those of us celebrating with a bang
Look around for the others
Be with them if you need to
Make a call if that helps
Give them company
Or, give them space
For those,
Not quite
“Feeling like it”, this year
Put up some fairy lights
Whip up some hot chocolate
Or a bowl of ice-cream
Or anything that makes you feel fuzzy and warm
Put on your favorite movie
Or, curl up with your favorite book
Because
One person
We always forget
To be with
The one
With whom
We have the
Real “forever” relationship
Is ourselves
So go ahead
This holiday
Be alone
Be with yourself
Or be with the ones you love
Wherever you are
And whoever is your chosen company
Look forward to a brighter new year
